SALARY RANGE
According to Salmon River Teachers Association Contract

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. New York State Certification for Music Education (K-12)

  2. Ability to establish positive rapport with students, staff, parents and community

  3. Knowledge and awareness of the current trends in teaching of pupils and Common Core State Standards

  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable


MAJOR DUTIES

  1. Teaches skills in music appreciation, harmony and exploration in music (general music and chorus)

  2. Utilizes course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities

  3. Plans a balanced music program and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time

  4. Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students

  5. Collaborates with colleagues to integrate literacy skills and contribute to overall student achievement

  6. Evaluates each pupil’s growth and performances, assessing each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group

  7. Plans, rehearses and directs pupils in musical programs for school and community

  8. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records

  9. Supervises pupils in/out of classroom activities as assigned

  10. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs

  11. Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities

  12. Maintains professional competence through in-service education provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities related to music

  13. Preference given for someone with piano skills

  14. Preference given for someone with computer instruction skills
