Location of training: 7771 Snake Island Rd., Metcalfe, ON, K0A 2P0
April 26 to 30th , 2021 from 4pm to 8pm. (20 hour course)
Requirements for this training:
Work boots and work pants required. Gloves and safety glasses provided, hard hats and tools will be loaned for the course or you can bring your own (preferred).
Covid-19 rules will apply at all times while attending this training. 2M distancing, hand washing/sanitizing, no sharing of tools, etc. (masks supplied if distancing is difficult to maintain).
Full Covid-19 rules will be posted on site.
Attendance for all evenings is mandatory
A resume is required on the first day of the course
Note: there are no fees for this training.
Requirements to join the Ironworkers Union:
Min 18 years of age
High school diploma (min grade 10)
Note: it is imperative to have your own transportation as job sites can vary daily/weekly and public transportation is not always available.
Three requirements to work in construction sites in Ontario: (Preferable to have before the course but not a requirement for this course.)
Working at Heights training (Ministry approved)
WHMIS2015 training (free online training is available)
4 Step awareness training for workers (Ministry of Labor website)
This course is not a job offer. It is designed to give participants an overall exposure to Reinforcing Ironwork. You will learn terminology and techniques that will help you if you get hired as a probationary member.
