SEED 2020 Program
For this year's SEED program we will be teaming up with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA). Students who meet the eligibility requirements will become Horticulture Ambassadors as part of MCA's Kaienthóhsera Garden Program.
Horticulture Ambassador General Job Description: The Kaienthóhsera Horticulture Ambassador will assist in the establishment and maintenance of the residential vegetable garden bed program throughout the Northern Portion of Akwesasne. The individual will help residents enrolled in the Kaienthόhsera Garden Program by assisting with weeding, watering, and harvesting of their vegetable garden. This position will also assist in the facilitation and exchange of information between residents and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Environment Program regarding gardening education and sustainable agriculture. This position will also work as part of a team to engage with appropriate community partners and residents regarding the maintenance of gardens and harvesting of vegetables. Based upon the individual’s career interests there is also an opportunity to learn about sustainable agriculture, lead programs on gardening, nutrition, and food security.
The program is anticipated to begin May 25th and run through August 12th. Deadline to apply for the program will be Tuesday, May 19th by 4pm.
Helping your community, learning new skills, developing possible career interests, all while earning some extra cash sounds like a great way to spend the summer.
