uOttawa Indigenous Program

Updated: Mar 6

Recently students had the opportunity to visit the University of Ottawa and learn about their Indigenous Program from the Faculty of Medicine. Two sessions were held, one on January 25th, and the second on February 22nd. A bus was provided by the Akwesasne Career & Employment Support Services to help those interested in attending the event.

The second session was geared towards students in grades 7-12 and youth. The focus was on one aspect of human health. Participants learned how doctors: do a medical history and physical exam, put on a cast, suture or do stitches, and visited the anatomy lab. A local elder, current medical students, and alumni all attended the event to share their personal journeys in the medical field. The purpose of this event was to build interest in the medical field for indigenous youth.

If you missed the event and would like more information on this program, check out the info sheet below.
